This is the last Will and Testament of me James Jew of the City of Gloucester, silversmith. I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Ursula Jew all my household goods, furniture, linen chinaware and ornaments printed books pictures wearing apparel together with my plate watches and rings in private use and also her paraphernalia and all and every sum and sums of money which at the time of my decease shall be invested and standing in her name as Ursula Jew the wife of James Jew in any or either of the public Stock or Funds or upon Government Securities and all Interest and Dividends then due or accruing due thereon to and for her own use benefit and disposal I give and bequeath All that my Leasehold Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell situate at the Cross in the Parish of St Michael in the City aforesaid And all and every the Outbuildings backsides and other appurtenances thereto belonging or therewith used or enjoyed unto my dear sister Sophia Marrick of Ledbury in the County of Hereford widow and Linen draper her executors administrators and assigns for such term estate and interest as I have therein Subject nevertheless to the Rents and Covenants in the Lease thereof contained and also subject to the right which I hereby give to my wife and my brother of occupying and using the said Messuage and the Shop thereto belonging if they or either of them shall choose so to do for six Calendar Months after my decease And I give and bequeath unto my said Sister all my Shop ;and other fixtures in and belonging to the said messuage and premises to and for her own absolute use and benefit and I make the said bequests to her in consideration of her being left a widow with a family of children I give and bequeath unto my Godchild Mary Jane Adams the daughter of James Adams of London Surgeon a legacy or sum of Nineteen guineas wherewith to buy a bible and prayer book I give and bequeath to my Godchild Ursula Mansfield daughter of John Mansfield of Gloucester a legacy or sum of Nineteen Guineas wherewith to buy a bible and prayer book but I direct that the said two last mentioned Legacies shall be paid to the father if living or in the event of his death to the mother of my said respective Godchildren within six months after my decease I leave nothing to my other Godchildren because I have left property to their respective friends I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas Jew of the City aforesaid Bookseller and my dear sister Martha Merrick the wife of Simon Merrick of Ledbury aforesaid Cider Merchant all my stock in Trade Book debts and Cash in the House at the time of my decease to be equally divided between them share and share alike subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the legacies hereby bequeathed to the said Mary Jane Adams and Ursula Mansfield And it is my Will and I declare that the bequest hereby made to my said Sister Martha I so made to her with the intention that she shall take and enjoy the same to and for her own sole and separate use and benefit free from the debts control and engagements of her present or any future husband. ALL THE REST AND RESIDUE of my estate and effects I give and bequeath unto my said dear Wife to and for her own absolute use and benefit And lastly I do hereby appoint my said brother Thomas Jew of the City of Gloucester Bookseller and my friend John Leach Bennett of Merton Surrey Esquire EXECUTORS of this my will hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said James Jew the Testator have to this my last will and Testament set and subscribed my hand and seal this Ninth day of May in the year of Our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and thirty two signed James Jew Signed sealed and published and declared by the said James Jew the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Jn Burrup solicitor Gloucester William Mann Shopman William Edwin May & apprentice to Mr Jew.

PROVED at London 20th May 1835 before the Worshipful Charles Coote Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oaths of Thomas Jew and John Leach Bennett the Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn only to Administer.
